step-by-step guide to booking your shoot

So you've decided to invest in yourself and your family, and you're ready to book a session with Keeping Composure Photography. Yay! I'm so happy for you! Now what? Find a step-by-step guide to working together below - if nothing else, take action on #1 to get started!

  1. Connect, reach out, say hello, give me a ring! There are so many ways to get in touch! Let me know what kind of photos you are looking for, what your schedule is etc... starting the conversation is the first step! (Hint: use the contact form at the right of this page, or the following alternatives, to get started. Told you it was easy!)
    • e:
    • p:     {314} 369.0165
    • IG:   @CoMtnPhotog
  2. Once we chat and figure out the best day & time for your shoot, I will email you two things:
    • a contract reviewing our agreement - you may sign this online!
    • an invoice covering your session and anything additional you may want. I typically ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit for the total of your shoot.* For family shoots, the remaining balance is due by the day of our session. For weddings/elopements, the remaining balance is due prior to the event date. You may pay your invoice with cash, check or credit card online.
  3. After the contract and invoice deposit are received, your session is guaranteed with KCP! Then you'll have exclusive access to my Portrait Session Guide to get started on planning.
  4. I always try to make time to talk (in person if possible, and over the phone if not) about specifics, details and any questions regarding the shoot once the event date gets closer.
    • Family/senior/portrait shoots: we'll make an appointment to figure out everything we can, i.e. clothing options, location ideas, photo pose or grouping ideas, etc...
    • Weddings/elopements: you will have a little "homework" from me - a simple questionnaire that reviews all of your details leading up to your Big Day. As the event approaches, we'll review any questions, concerns, the schedule and any other factors that are helpful. The goal: to avoid surprises and make sure we're on the same page.
  5. After the shoot, you will receive your images as quickly as possible. In effort to deliver the best possible product I can, I typically strive for the following timelines of turnaround:
    • Family/senior/portrait shoots: see typical timeline here.
    • Weddings/elopements: usually within four weeks, if not sooner (all weddings and elopements differ in coverage time and photos taken; this timeline is an estimate but is not guaranteed).
  6. For any kind of photo session, you will receive your images in an online gallery. Weddings also include a USB drive with all final images + print release for the married couple! In the online gallery, you may download any included image files and order any additional prints/products you wish. Special Note: Orders placed within the first week of the gallery release date will receive 15% off with a specially-provided promo code. Online galleries are available to access for two months; any desired orders/downloads must be made before the gallery is taken down.*
  7. I love sharing my clients' happy faces and beautiful moments online - and am happy for you to share them, too! I ask that you tag/link/give credit to Keeping Composure Photography whenever shared online (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, etc...). Word-of-mouth referrals are the highest compliment a small business could receive, and are the beating heart of Keeping Composure Photography. (Please see my social media links at the bottom of this page for reference)
*All photo sessions are unique, and life gets in the way sometimes - please don't hesitate to ask questions!! I want to make this experience fun and exciting, and am happy to consider alternatives to deposit schedules and/or extensions on galleries.
